Hi ! I'm Shubhashish Banerjee !
I created this blog to share my experiences and learning in Astronomy, Astrophotography and Photography. All of these 3 fields are tightly connected and I ran into them one after the other. I plan to share my progress on each of these categories.
There is no point in you making the mistakes I made so pick up what you think you should and should not do. I'll be happy if I could help you make 1 mistake less.
I love peeping through light tubes, I love to spend the night watching and lately capturing the night sky. I love the sound of shutter every time I click a picture. The sky brings me peace!
I am a member of the Astronomical League of the Philippines and have found like minded people who keep Astronomy close to heart. I get to learn a lot from my ALP friends, they are an awesome bunch of good people.

I was bitten by the Astro-Bug quite in early days, some science magazine had a star chart and I saw resemblance with the star patterns (constellations) that I saw up in the sky. I started with naked eyes trying to figure out the constellations, only few of them seemed to have any relation with the names but it was fun to trace them. When you are young (not that I'm old now ;) ) its fun to find something doesn't matter what it is. My new found fancy got me more interested in the science and the astro works. Later I migrated to binoculars and then to telescopes. Attaching a camera seemed like a cool idea so here I am...trying to capture the wonders of the sky!
I, like many others, keep getting questioned about the right telescope to buy and this is what I tell them :
1. To know about the night sky , you don't always need a telescope. You can start with naked eyes then graduate to binocular and then telescope. First see if this hobby sticks to you and if you have the patience to fail :...and keep trying.
2. The best scope is the one you will use most often. Think about portability and ease of use. The more you use it , the more you'll love astronomy.
3. I am a lazy boy ;) I don't like collimation and lot of cleaning of mirrors and so I prefer Refractors but that's just a personal choice.
4. The bigger , the better and don't forget # 2, so the bigger aperture you can buy *and* carry around.
Someone asked me - "What's the fun of doing all this? What's the end goal ? ". I could only smile and say it the journey that matters not the destination.
